Cleaning Conditioning Leather Seats
If you have leather in your vehicle, you should know how to take care of it and clean it properly. Since
you have decided to choose leather as a luxury option in your vehicle, spending that money should be put to good use. For long-lasting leather,
you should condition and clean it regularly.
Some people feel like they live in their vehicle because they are in it so much and the average a person
keeps a vehicle for is 5 years. To ensure that the leather does not crack from usage, you should clean and condition your leather at least three
times a year.
Leather has pores and consists of oily substances or dry substances. Your leather should never look shiny, but always look dull
if it is good leather. People believe that leather is more durable and easier to handle. I would have to agree with that statement if you
are a person who takes care of their leather. The pores can get dirt in them and cause the leather to change color. That is why it is
important to clean your leather very well. Use these steps to clean and condition your leather interior.
Steps for Cleaning and Conditioning Leather:
Wipe down the leather real good. Apply your choice of leather cleaner with a towel. Do not rub too hard because it can
cause discoloration. Then wipe the cleaner off. Don't forget to clean your headrests and armrests when cleaning the leather. After cleaning the
leather the next step is conditioning or moisturizing the leather. Leather comes from a cow and needs to moisten. Use a good conditioner, nothing
cheap.
Spend a little bit more money for good quality leather conditioner. Apply the leather conditioner with a
towel and let it sit for a couple of minutes until it is dry. Then wipe it off real good with the same towel. It is the same procedure that you
would do for waxing the exterior of your vehicle. Remember to really work the conditioner into the pores to get the best results. Following these
steps will make the leather softer and easier to clean next time around.
